Roatan Beaches

Our affiliated hotels and resorts Turquoise Bay Resort and Palmetto Bay Plantation are on some of Roatan's nicest beaches.

The island of Roatan has some of the best Beaches in the Caribbean. A few of them are described on this page. However there are many more just go and explore your self.

West Bay Beach or
Tabiana Beach

Half Moon Bay Beach by West End

Fantasy Island Beach

Parrot Tree Beach

East Half Moon Bay Beach

Paya Bay Beach

Pigeon Cay

Palmetto Bay

Turquoise Bay Dive & Beach Resort. The resort has a beautiful private beach protected by a natural mangrove peninsula and the offshore reef.  Even if you are not a guest at the hotel you are welcome to use the beach and the shower and toilet facilities.

Subway Watersports has a full-service dive and Watersports facility at Turquoise Bay Resort.

Turquoise Bay Beach

Palmetto Bay (yes the one from Temptation Island) has a one mile long white sandy beach.

The reef is quite a bit off shore so if you want to snorkel there you will have to swim or come out on our boat. The restaurant at Palmetto has also a nice swimming pool.

Palmetto Bay Beach

West Bay Beach or Tabiana Beach as it is called by the cruise ships once was the nicest beach in the Caribbean. But soon real-estate firms and cruise ships found interest in this spectacular place. Nevertheless it is still a awesome beach if you don't mind the hotels in the back ground. Avoid going there on a cruise ship day when hundreds of cruise ship people take over the west part of the beach. The snorkeling is still good in spite of the hordes of cruise ship guests that step around on the shallow reef. Be aware of the speeding water taxis.

West Bay Beach

Half Moon Bay is located right on the entrance to West End and offers good snorkeling on the outside of the reef. Watch for boats when swimming through the channel. One disadvantage is the road passing along the beach and the taxis parking next to it.

Half Moon Bay in West End

Fantasy Island Beach Resort has a nice beach inside their (manmade) lagoon. If you are staying with us we can take you there by boat in only 5 minutes. By car it would take about 10 minutes from our hotel.
On their premises you will also find a little pavilion from where you can do some snorkeling. The snorkeling there isn't great however.

Beach at Fantasy Island Resort

Parrot Tree Plantation has a very pretty again man made lagoon that is perfect for swimming and sunbathing. The access to the open sea and the reef for snorkeling can be a bit tricky by often choppy sea. There is a nice restaurant where you can enjoy a delicious lunch.

Lagoon at Parrot Tree Plantation

The East Half Moon Bay on the south side past Parrot Tree Plantation is only accessible by boat within  15 minutes and offers great snorkeling.

Paya Bay Resort and the beaches located there are to be found at the end of a long dirt road leading to the east end of the island. The deserted beaches aren't cleaned up like others but invite beach strolling and swimming. This is not a place to come for snorkeling because the reef is far off shore and the water usually a bit rough. The restaurant at Paya Bay offers great lunch and a spectacular view.

Beach at Paya Bay

The Pigeon Cay's are our favorite but only accessible by a 2 hour boat ride from our shop. A few miles of the island of Barbaretta one can find  two tiny uninhabited islands, one of them with a beautiful beach.

The best thing about this place: No Bugs

We sometimes stop here for lunch on day trips.
See diving day trips or snorkeling day trips

The snorkeling here is spectacular
