Roatan is famous among scuba divers for its big variety of coral, which you can see from only a
short boat ride away. Some of the best-known and most spectacular
dive sites
are just minutes away.
Roatan
features scuba diving at its best. Thousand-foot
walls festooned with deepwater gorgonians, coral gardens and barrel sponges,
pillar coral, 60-foot deep ledges crowded with blackcap basslets, mini-walls
clustered with bluebell tunicates, pinnacles overgrown with azure vase
sponges, and shy indigo hamlets peering from niches are all aspects of
scuba diving in Roatan in the Bay Islands of Honduras.
A short ride away on the dive boat, you will find spur/canyon
configurations, coral gardens, ledges, overhangs, caverns, and vertical
fissures. Miles of reef leave scuba diving in Roatan uncrowded and many areas have
yet to be explored by visitors. Large groupers and moray eels are a common
sight. On any given dive around Roatan, one might see a hawksbill turtle or spotted eagle
ray gracefully gliding by.
Roatan's reefs are so extensive that it would take months of daily scuba diving to see
each known segment.

We have
two dive
facilities on the
north side of Roatan at Palmetto Bay Plantation and Turquoise Bay
Dive & Beach Resort.
When diving with us,
out of one of our two facilities in Roatan, you will enjoy the very individual and personal service
that only small dive shops can offer. We specialize in tailored scuba diving meeting
each particular group’s needs and requests and a PADI divemaster guides all
dives. We do multilevel dive profiles with one hour dive time. We are capable of handling a maximum of 15
divers in Palmetto Bay and up to 30 divers in Turquoise Bay,
which we take out in small groups of 6 to 12
per boat.
At both shops the dive boats leave daily at 8:45 am, 11 am and 2 pm.
We usually do one night dive per week.
Both our shops have some of
Roatan’s best dive sites
like the amazing Dolphin Den
very close by, so we come back to the dive shops for our surface
intervals. When we go to some of the further dive sites we do a two tank
dive in the morning and one tank in the afternoon. We are one of two dive
operators on Roatan, that offer
day trips to remote places like Morat, Barbaretta, Utila, the Sea Mounts and Cayos Cochinos.
We keep a boat on the South Side to dive
Mary's Place Roatan's most famous dive site and to be able to take you
diving 365 days a year. If one side of the island is rough we can always
take you out on the opposite side.
For individual dives we charge
the following prices
1 – 4 dives $ 38 per dive/person
5 – 9 dives $ 32 per
dive/person
10 - 14 dives $ 30 per dive/person
15 or more dives $ 28 per dive/person
We are the only small dive shop
on Roatan that offers
day trips to remote locations in the Bay Islands like The Sea Mounts, Cayos Cochinos or Barbareta and Morat. We also offer a wreck diving day trip
or a whale shark watching trip to Utila.
Dive Equipment Rental
Rental scuba equipment is from Scubapro, Sherwood (Silhouette BCD, Brut or MK2
Regulator) and Akona wetsuits.

Note from the Roatan
Marine Park:
Dear visitor please
help us protect Roatan's most valuable recourse the coral reef. When
snorkeling or scuba diving please
do not
touch or step on the coral as this will kill it and do not
remove anything other than trash. Do not
buy shells and pieces of coral such as sea fans or jewelry made from
black coral, tortoise shell etc. Even though these items are widely available from
street vendors it is illegal.
Locals will harvest anything just to make a little cash today
disregarding the sustainability of their livelihood for the future.
