Kyle
Pfeiffer, USA
I'm from Northern California. I
was certified in 2005 and diving opened up a whole new world to me. I
work seasonally for the US Forest Service and I am avoiding the snow for
the winter. Last fall I graduated from San Francisco State with a
degree in Environmental Studies. I love the outdoors and am excited to
come down to Honduras. I'm a pretty easy going person and up for
anything. I look forward to meeting everyone!

Shannon McFadden, USA
I was certified to dive back in 2000, and just
can't seem to get enough of it. I love the outdoors, and love being under
the water. Last February I quit my desk job to find my passions in life.
Scuba Diving, Rock Climbing, and Skiing, seem to be the things that make me
happiest.
I worked at an awesome place this summer that
has zip lines, rock climbing, cliff jumping, wake boarding, scuba diving,
kayaking, and lots of other fun water related activities. I had been
considering becoming a dive instructor for a few years, and this summer made
me realize that being outdoors in a warm environment, preferably surrounded
by water is where I want to be.
I can't wait to spend the first 9 weeks of 2012
in a tropical paradise (away from the cold snow in CT) obtaining my DM and
Dive Instructor.
For those of you that I'll encounter during my
stay - I can't wait to meet you! |
Mark Strother, USA
Hey,
my name is Mark and I am an Indiana, USA native. I
became open water certified back in 2009 on the Great Barrier Reef in
Australia while on a two year "holiday" following university in the States
and have been anxious to get back underwater ever since. I have chosen to
do an internship in order to get some more diving experience before
(hopefully) taking on a master's program in maritime archaeology in
Adelaide, Australia in early 2013. I also cannot wait to escape the last
months of winter up here in Indiana! See you all in February!

Joe Segelman, UK
Hey
I'm Joe, From the U.K. I have had a bit of diving experience - I did my
Open Water in sunny Tenerife in 2008. I have done bits of diving in the UK
but nothing really compares over here to being somewhere hot like Roatan! I
love travelling & and sunbathing like a lizard, what more could you ask
for? Up until now I have been in the property development game, but with the
way things are at the moment I thought I would follow my passion which is
diving so really looking forward to getting out diving again and I am
continuing on to do my instructor courses which would be a step towards my
new career ambitions... a job in a hot country by the sea!
I love travelling, animals,
the environment, nature, new adventures including random road trips and of
course scuba diving. I only have about 10 logged dives completed as I didn't
know you could log dives if you just went out with a few mates, my bad! so I
am looking forward to going to Roatan in December to dive every day. I can't
wait to gain more diving experience. Life can take you in many different
directions and mine seems to have done that, but at the end of the day, you
only live once so you might as well fulfill your dreams ;) There is a
tranquility and peacefulness in the ocean that puts your mind and heart at
ease and just being able to chill, one word AMAZING!!

Roxane Osborn,
USA
I'm
an artist, writer, animal lover , a globetrotting ragamuffin, and soon to be
divemaster! I currently reside in northern California (for the most
part).... Though got certified in open water and dry suit diving in the
warm waters of the Puget sound in Washington State. I have worked a
million different jobs from tattoo parlors to being one of those who help
build the infrastructure at the BurningMan festival to being a cheesemonger.
I can't wait to add divemaster to that list. I had my first dive in Tahiti
in 2002 and fell head over heels in love. I have been trying to figure out a
way to make it a bigger part of my life ever since. I think this is the
perfect beginning to that pursuit.

Aidan
O’Leary, Ireland
My names Aidan O'Leary, I work as a
electrician and I'm Irish. My hobbies are playing hurling and Gaelic
football (Irish sports). I did my open water last year in Koh Tao Thailand
while on holidays there and I loved it so much that when I went backpacking
at the start of the year I knew I just couldn't miss the chance of doing my
AOW there again. Now that I'm back from my travels I have realized that I
would love to take the next step in scuba diving. After doing a bit of
research I found Subway and I'm really looking forward coming here and
starting there DM internship. |

Joel Dercole, USA
Hi
ya'll my name is Joel. I come from San Diego, California. I started diving
back in 2009 and fell right in love with it. Living in San Diego I have the
opportunity to dive year round, the only problem is you have a wear a 7mil
or dry suit as the water is really cold! I have become a proficient lobster
diver and have bagged some big ones this season already. There is something
about diving at night that I really enjoy. I been diving around world from
Koh Tao in Thailand to Caye Caulker in Belize. I leave for a surf/dive trip
to Bali on the 28th of December, come home and then head out to meet all of
you. I can't wait!

Dan Ebner, USA
My
name is Dan and I originally got certified for Open Water about 3 years ago
in Fort Lauderdale, Fl and about a year ago I got Advance certified in
Phuket, Thailand. I currently live in Boston, MA but before I moved here I
spent some time traveling around the world. I taught English in China and
worked construction in Australia. When I'm not diving I love being a bit of
an adrenaline junkie doing everything from rock climbing to bungee jumping
and skydiving. I have decided to get my Divemaster because I love diving
and want to improve my ability as a diver while giving other people the
chance to discover how great diving can be. I'm excited to escape the cold
of Boston to enjoy the nice beaches in Roatan. I can't wait to come down in
a couple of weeks to meet everyone!

Rodney Smith, USA
Hi
to all, my name is Rodney Smith and I live in Naples Florida. I have watched
all the TV shows on scuba diving growing up and knew i would give it a try
when i was older. Well in Aug 1978, i got my Open Water and was hooked on
this underwater world which few people knew about. I added Advanced Open
Water in Dec 1979 and took other courses to learn more. I was always coming
off a dive trip or planning my next one. I made about 100 dives. I joined
the Military and where I was stationed was too cold to dive, as life and the
years went by my equipment was sold off. But in July 2011 while in Roatan on
vacation my wife got her Open Water while I did a recert course and it was
like I never left, so I got my Rescue Diver at Subway Watersports. Since
then completed 54 more dives for a total of 154 and counting! I'm looking
forward to Dive Master Internship and seeing everyone at Subway Watersports.

Summer Potthoff, USA
Hello!
My name is Summer. I am from the Midwest region of the United States.
Originally I went to school to be a elementary school teacher but after
moving to California and getting my open water certification I decided I
wanted to teach SCUBA diving and never looked back. I have always been a
"fish out of water" and enjoy all water sports. I also enjoy underwater
photography and wildlife. My goals are to travel the world to gain
experience through people I meet and places that I explore, also to be more
fluent in the Spanish language. I am super excited to come visit Honduras!
|
Daniel McCarty, USA
Hi
my name is Dan. I live in Bartlett, Illinois and I cannot wait to
get back to traveling. I love the ocean and all the life it has in
it, I have spent a few years sailing around the world and swimming
and snorkeling in new and exotic locations but this is my first time
in the world of SCUBA and I am pretty excited. I am always looking
for a good time and a new adventure and think this is a great way to
spend my time before going to Cali. and finishing my schooling. I am
easy-going and pretty laid back, island life suits me just fine. I
cant wait to get to the island and learn and dive and meet everyone. |

Philip
Ong, Canada
Hola
a todos!
I’m a recent graduate
for Environmental Science Program at Dalhousie University in Nova
Scotia, Canada. My family moved to Canada about 5 years ago so I got
to experience the Atlantic Winter quite a bit. I was certified as
open water 2 years ago but diving in cold water is not my favourite
thing to do. I went to Cuba on an expedition with Operation Wallecea
and felt in love with diving in warm water and Caribbean reef. I
decided that I need to get more qualification because it can open
doors for me to work in warm places and I love spending time in the
ocean. Seeing many of my dive instructors going to exotic places in
the Caribe, Asia, and Australia to work and dive, I decided that I
want to do the same thing. I love to travel, to see now places and
to meet new friends. My dream, for now anyway, is to work and dive
in the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. My dream job would be
bumming around NGOs around the globe and working to preserve the
barely-anything-left pristine reef. Maybe unrealistic but it does
not cost a cent to dream so ;)
I am looking forward
to meeting everyone!

Tommy Dahl Knudsen, Denmark
I’ve
been on this site for a long time but have changed my plans now doing DM
& IDC – simply can’t get
enough of diving.
I've
only been
diving for a
little more than a year and have
logged
132
dives
until now.
It began
on
a
trip
to
Borneo
where
I first
experienced the
amazing
marine life.
I did my Open Water course in our local diving club in Denmark. Summer
2010 I got my Advanced Open Water plus Nitrox certificate in Croatia
with a lot of dives and a few months later a Rescue Diver course. We
dive
many
weekends in
our
club
all year around
and I have
had
great
masters
among
very
experienced and
good
friends.
Diving in
Denmark
can
be very tough with
water
temperatures
at
about 30F
in the winter time
to
about
70F
in
the
summer time.
It's dry
suit
most
of the year
with some
times a strong
current
and often poor
visibility.
Believe me, a night
dive in
the icy
waters is a very
special
experience. Since then I have dived in San Diego California, Red Sea Egypt, Cornwall
UK and especially Subway Watersports Roatan spring 2011.
My goal - Some day to become a Course Director and also do more on Tech
diving.
I work
as
Automation
Engineer and
travels often
around the world
always bringing my
certificate
hoping to find some water.
I can’t wait to get back and to meet you all – dive, sun & fun

Savinien
Leblond
Hey, I’m Savi, and I graduated in May with a Bachelor’s in Biology and would
like to continue and get a Master’s in Marine Biology. My diving career
started back in June 2011 with my open water certification. I then went on
to Global Vision International in the Seychelles and got my AOW and Rescue
diver certs as a volunteer on a 10 week marine conservation expedition. I
went on to secure an unpaid staff position for a further 10 weeks and took
part in leading small teams of people on dives. After completing this DM
course I will be returning to the Seychelles to work with Dr. David Rowat
and the Marine Conservation Society Seychelles as an intern for the whale
shark research program. I’m pumped for March to arrive to get this DM
program started!

Nick Bradford, UK
Born
in Singapore, the son of a British Royal Marine, I have had the good
fortune to live in Singapore, Saudi Arabia and South Africa,
Traveling with my family to my fathers’ postings. Whilst in these
countries, I developed a good knowledge of the Languages and the
cultures. This is also where my earliest memories of Diving began,
under the instruction of British Royal Marines. I completed my
education in Britain, and shortly after, Joined the British Armed
forces where I stayed for 4 ½ years, During my time in the armed
forces I learnt to Dive under the supervision of the British Su aqua
Club, I spent 2 years stationed in Germany, Where I learnt to Speak
German. I left the Armed forces after loosing friends in a bombing
attack that left them dead and me hospitalized for three months. In
the interim I had a couple of kids and took a different career path,
which is where I met my wife, my soul mate. I introduced my wife to
the joys of Scuba through P.A.D.I. and we took a trip to The
Maldives, I’ve thought about little else since really. We immigrated
to Canada in 1999. My wife is the one who made me realize that
revisiting this dream to become a Dive Instructor is possible and I
am thrilled at the opportunity to return to a career path that I
felt had slipped me by. I look forward to getting started.

I'm
a recent graduate of Missis-sippi State University with a degree in

until I get down there! |

Markus Daase, Switzerland

Hey, my name is
Markus; I am Swiss and work as project manager in the logistics
industry. I had my first diving experience in a cold muddy Swiss
lake in 2008 and realized after three trips to the red sea in
2011 that diving is becoming more than just a hobby for me. My
company gave me the chance to take a four month time out, so I
will stuff my backpack with a lot of exiting experiences for
life during my divemaster and afterwards in the instructor
course. And the best part of it: it’s in a beautiful hot country
and in WARM water! J
I can imagine to become a course director one day and to start
running my own diving business somewhere in this world. It’s
still a looooong way to go but I am ready for this challenge!
In Switzerland I am also a certified paragliding pilot and fly
the whole year from beautiful Swiss alps (7’000 up to 10’000
feet). I will thank my wife that she gives me the opportunity to
follow my dreams and I can’t wait until she’s joining me in
Roatan after finish of my courses.

Sarah Stein, USA
Hi!
My name is Sarah Stein and I more commonly go by my nickname – Rae Rae. I
grew up in the desert in Tucson, Arizona and have lived in beautiful Santa
Barbara, California for the past 3 years where I am studying marine biology.
I believe many unexplored secrets await us beneath the water and I would
love to spend the rest of my life learning about and exploring the beauty
and life contained within our ocean. I had one great dive experience in
Hawaii several years ago, and just received my open water certification in
March 2011. I am super excited for my first big trip outside of the United
States and am looking forward to a slower placed style of life with people
who share similar interests and different backgrounds.

have fallen in love with scuba diving. Since then I have logged over 100
dives, mostly in Cozumel and Grand Cayman. After obtaining my rescue diver

Charlee Corra,
USA
My
name is Charlee Corra and I'm from Los Angeles, California. I started diving
in Maui, Hawaii when I was 10 years old and immediately fell in love with
the world that exists underneath the ocean's surface. I got my advanced
certification when I was 12 and am currently being certified as a rescue
diver. Last summer I spent 6 weeks on an island in Indonesia as a marine
biology research assistant and spent everyday underwater with scientists
doing important conservation research. Ever since then I've wanted to be in
the water more than ever, learning all I can about the ecosystems that make
up our oceans and how to protect them. Currently I am a junior at Tufts
University in Medford, MA majoring in biology and environmental studies.
After graduating I want to go into marine conservation work and eventually
plan on going to graduate school to further my biology education. Becoming a
divemaster will allow me to enter the professional dive world and spread my
love of the ocean and of diving to others. I am really looking forward to
spending part of my summer in Roatan doing some amazing diving, meeting new
people and making new friends, and above all having an incredible learning
experience.

Bart van Dyk, Canada
Open
water certified in 2006 in Cuba and hooked on Scuba diving
ever since. Hey, I’m Bart from Kamloops B.C., but originally from the
Netherlands. After mandatory military service with a stint in Lebanon for
the UN, I became a ‘Trans Africa Expedition Leader’ for Guerba Expeditions,
a British adventure tourism company and criss-crossed Africa for a good part
of the 1980s. While in Kenya one of my Canadian passengers became my wife
and next thing I knew, we lived in Canada. I received a degree in Biological
Sciences from the University of Calgary and have since worked and owned
businesses in the hospitality industry here in British Columbia. In the last
few years I have logged about 35 dives in Cuba, Mexico and Belize. Love that
warm water, have yet to log my first cold water dive. Our daughter will be
off to university this summer opening up the perfect opportunity for me to
pursue my diving passion. Although I have yet no idea what this internship
is going to lead to, secretly I sometimes dream of a dive shop in a warm
climate nestled on a beautiful sandy beach. All in all I’m very excited
about participating in this internship and as most adventures, it is going
to be a great life enriching experience.

I
was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. My
greatest passion in life is experiencing new things. No matter what they
may be, I'm always looking for new adventures. I've spent a great deal
of time in Central America, and absolutely love this area of the world.
I dove for the very first time in Roatan, Honduras back in 2003. Since
then, I was certified in Monterey, California. I lived there for about a
year and a half and absolutely fell in love with SCUBA (despite the
freezing cold water). I'm very much looking forward to meeting new
friends and making new, unforgettable memories. See y'all this summer! |
