Elizabeth Unkrur, USA

Liz is most looking forward to diving in the second largest barrier reef with all the unique and exotic marine life. As well as working in a dive shop and continuing her diving skills. 

Hobbies: Liz loves diving, snorkelling, and just being in, on, or near the water in general. She also highly enjoys meeting and interacting with new and interesting people. She haves been sailing since she was in middle school. She haves completed a course certification on a J22 one design sailboat. She also did a 28 day live-aboard on a moorings 42 ft Catamaran in the British Virgin Islands last summer.

Diving experience: Liz is PADI Advanced certified with 30 dives.
 

Nellie Viner, USA

Nellie is currently finishing her law degree at the University of Iowa and will take the bar exam at the end of July and will begin her career as an attorney in Chicago in September.

Nellie has studied and practiced Buddhism and T’ai Chi throughout her life and has found that the experience of scuba is close in form to these pursuits.

She has taught English in rural Thailand, worked at a human rights NGO in New Delhi, India for a summer, and has been all over southeast Asia, Europe, and North America.

Hobbies: Nellie enjoys skydiving and has recently completed her first marathon in October. She is an avid hiker and mountain climber. She was a lifeguard at a swimming pool for two summers in high school and also worked as a lifeguard at a lake for an additional summer.

Diving experience: Nellie is PADI Open Water diver with 8 dives.
 

Charlotte Emily Cook, England

Charlotte will be applying to university in America to hopefully do a Master’s in shark behaviour and qualifying as a Dive Master will not only help her application process but it will provide an avenue to becoming an instructor in the near future.

Charlotte has spent 8 weeks at a shark research facility in the Bahamas last summer, which meant she was in the water conducting research or snorkelling everyday. Through this she gained hands-on experience with many species of shark including tigers and bull sharks.

Hobbies: Charlotte was Captain of her University rugby team, which provided her with a lot of responsibility as well as working well under pressure whilst motivating her team. She also loves to surf and body board when she get a chance to and spend many hours outdoors.

Diving experience: Charlotte is PADI Advanced certified with about 48 dives.
 

Luke McCoy, Australia

Luke loves the ocean and enjoys diving with friends and his family he hopes to encourage others to take up this sport with him. He wishes to one day work as an environment minister so he may influence others to take care of the ocean. By doing this course he will be given more experience in a hands on manner.

Hobbies: Fishing, music and hairdressing. He was brought up snorkelling at the beach.

Diving experience: Luke is SSI Open Water certified with 17 dives
 

Stephen Laczko USA

Stephen is studying business at California State University of Long Beach.

Hobbies: Stephen loves everything about the ocean: surfing, snorkelling, sailing and SCUBA diving.  He has travelled to Costa Rica, Mexico, Greece, Hawaii, and Italy learning about the different cultures and admiring the myriad of natural beauties. Stephen rows on the varsity crew team at is college, he surfs every weekend and cycles during the week. 

Diving experience: Stephen is NAUI master and Nitrox diver with 30 dives.
 

Trevor Timmins, Australia

Trevor is currently living and working in America for the ski season and is planning to spend 6 months in South America from May through to October.
Trevor is looking forward to learn the basics to work in the dive industry and to broaden his outdoor guide qualifications so he is able to  work in a variety of fields from tourism and education. He will also gain knowledge helping with his university experience in the study of environmental science he could move into marine biology and conservation which is a dream of his.

Hobbies: Trevor loves playing guitar, snorkelling and exploring in rocky caverns and outcrops. He is swift water rescue and swift water technician certified internationally and has worked as a raft guide for almost 2 years.

Diving experience: Trevor is not certified as a diver.
 

Cameron Hogarth, Canada

Cameron's goal is to develop an eco-tourism business and obtaining a divemaster certification is a valuable asset. He is looking forward to expanding his knowledge about other cultures and improving his Spanish as well as  acquire skills for operating a small business and leading groups in a learning environment.

Hobbies: outdoor recreation, physical fitness, wildlife (natural world), scuba diving, travelling

Diving experience: Cameron is PADI Open Water certified with 6 dives

Hannah Gregurek, USA

Hannah wants to dive as a career. She is looking forward to the diving, and hopefully getting to see peoples faces as they experience diving in the ocean for the first time. She remember what it was like for her and wants to see other people enjoy the same thing that she loves.

Hobbies: Hannah's  hobbies include painting, and pretty much anything outdoors. She travelled through Europe for 5 weeks by herself. She is a water bum and likes swimming and free diving. Her next goal is to learn how to surf.

Diving experience: Hannah will be doing her Advanced and Rescue course before coming to Roatan.

Jessica Blanchard, Switzerland

Jessica will be finishing High School in July. She planes to continue her studies in hostelry and the internship will be a nice introduction and at the same time she'll be able to share a common hobby with the customers.

Jessica has been diving during vacation with Subway last December.

Hobbies: Jessica likes to act in a theatre group and she usually dives during the summer time. She also loves to travel which she did a lot with her parents.

Diving experience: Jessica is CMAS ** certified with 58 dives.
 

Warren Storey, Canada

Warren used to be in the military. He is hoping the internship might result in a career change or at least a bit of a lifestyle change. He wants do do his Instructor after getting his DM.
 

Hobbies: Warren is an active person. He rock climbs, weight trains, rides motorcycles and goes on canoe/kayak trips at least once a year. He has travelled to Spanish speaking countries on various occasions. He has ridden his motorcycle from Ottawa through Central America and down to Chile in a seven month time period. 

Diving experience: Warren is PADI Advanced certified with 18 dives.  
 

Imogen Wood, England

Imogen first heard about diving in Honduras when she worked for Coral Cay Conservation and ever since then she has wanted to go to Honduras and continue her dive qualifications.  She is really keen to become a dive master and hopefully an assistant instructor as well  before going back to London to start a Masters in Social Work. 
Imogen has just spent 1 year working in a hostel for homeless young people in London.

Hobbies: Travelling and diving are two passions of Imogen's and she really wants to continue to experience them. She enjoys playing team sports and likes swimming.  She swims everyday in London. 

Diving experience: Imogen is PADI Advanced Open Water diver with 40 dives

Monty Jarecke, USA

Monty recently graduated from university with a degree in Political Science. He is contemplating going to law school but would like to take some time off first and look at other possible career paths.

Monty has always wanted to complete his divemaster training since he completed his rescue diver program in the Caribbean islands a few years ago. He is also interested in learning more about the eco-tourism industry and hopes that he can pursue other opportunities to learn more about it with a divemaster certification. He hopes this will give him a chance to travel and work at another resort.

Hobbies: Monty is an avid surfer and outdoorsmen. He enjoys a good adventure and likes to challenge himself with new experiences. During his second year of school he was able to be apart of a marine conservation project on the island of Andros in the Caribbean.

Diving experience: Monty is PADI Rescue diver with 113 dives.

Melissa Schrader, USA

Melissa wants to begin a career in SCUBA and needs experience to further her training. She has been a wilderness instructor during the past 3 summers and she has lead trips all around the world.
Melissa has taught lessons on marine biology and local flora and fauna. She has spent 28 days at sea aboard a 125 schooner in the Caribbean and has sailed over 2800 miles.

Hobbies: snorkeling, surfing, rock climbing, snowboarding, sea kayaking, art, reading, yoga, travel and mixing drinks (she's a bartender).

Diving experience: Melissa is PADI Advanced certified with 14 dives.
 

Steve Harrison, USA

Steve is interested in furthering his diving experience and spending time in a foreign country.  He tries to travel regularly and he wants to do more than just hop around a country, he wants to get involved. Steve thinks this internship fits his lifestyle and will also prepare him for a professional career in diving. He hopes to take the dive master cert. and apply for a position on one of his local dive boats.  Someday he aspires to pay for vacations by teaching scuba lessons abroad.  Working abroad will expand his international experience beyond the tourist level and give a feel of what living in another country is all about. 

Hobbies: Steve is very athletic and enjoys wake/snowboarding, mountain biking, sailing, and swimming.

Diving experience: Steve is PADI Advanced certified with 90 dives.
 

Shazeed Bheriani, Canada

Shazeed is currently working as a nurse. He enjoys diving and would like to further his experience with the DM course and learn more about types diving and the many forms it takes.

Hobbies: Shazeed enjoys all outdoor activity, skydiving, paddling, climbing mountain biking and skin diving and snorkeling.

Melinda Huston, USA

Melinda is looking to pursue career goals in working at a dive shop and being a dive instructor. She is looking forward to everything. To learning more about SCUBA diving, to learning Spanish, to experiencing the culture, to eating new foods, to being in warm weather during the fall and winter and to trying new things.

Hobbies: Melinda  likes reading, taking pictures, listening to music, and just having fun. She was on several swim teams in her youth, including her high school swim team. She also has some experience with boats and jet skis.

Bill would like to eventually buy a dive operation somewhere in the Caribbean. His wife and sister are also interested in the same thing so they thought an intensive training program would be good.

Bill is a certified private pilot for both rotorcraft, and fixed wing.

Hobbies: Bill rides dirt bikes, motorcycles and jet skis. He likes to rock climb, hike and of course scuba diving. He has experience as a life guard at public.

Jen has never been in this part of the world before and is looking forward to it!  She is interested in getting some tutorial so to speak regarding running a dive shop. She would like to push herself and reach the goal of a dive master.

Clifford Spital, USA

Cliff is most excited about obtaining his Divemaster certification, it has been a goal of his for a very long time, and now that he has a year off from school  he is  going to make the most of this opportunity. He is very familiar with the marine species of the Caribbean because  he studied marine biology in Turks & Caicos as well as the ecological issues of the area.  He is interested in fish and fishery biology. He is very interested in underwater photography and looks forward to trying his hand at it once again.

Cliff worked two summers as a lifeguard.  He was a sailing and cabin counsellor at an overnight camp, and he has experience driving motorboats.  He was a part of the student crew on the SSV Korwith Kramer, a research vessel that conducts oceanographic research in the Gulf of Maine.

Diving experience: Cliff is PADI Advanced certified with 35 dives
 

Alyssa Fitzpatrick, USA

Alyssa spent three and a half months last fall in the Turks and Caicos and fell in love with the Caribbean. Since then, she has been trying to find a way to return to this area and explore the underwater world and to further her diving abilities!

Hobbies: Alyssa's biggest hobby is flying. She earned her private pilot’s licence a year and a half ago and is working towards her instrument rating and eventually her commercial license. Her other hobbies include ice hockey, rugby and, obviously, SCUBA diving.

Diving Experience: Alyssa has experience diving off the coast of Massachusetts (cold water with low visibility) and in the Turks and Caicos (warm water and great visibility). She is PADI Open Water Diver with 20 dives.
 

Annie Hansel, USA

Annie just graduated from college with a degree in Studio Art, but her passion has always been in being outdoors, travelling, and meeting new and interesting people, and, recently, diving! She is looking to get a lot of experience diving and to reach the Divemaster level. She can see herself getting addicted to the lifestyle of a professional diver.

Hobbies: Annie loves being outdoors, being creative, and staying active.  She took a few classes in oceanography at school, and loved them. Dance-parties and singing off-pitch are two of her favourite activities.

Alicia Amarant, USA

Alicia just finished her coursework for a degree in International Business; an internship is the last step to complete it. She currently work as a waitress in a beach bar.
She is excited to have this opportunity to become a dive master and hopefully eventually a Dive Instructor. She has always had the dream of owning her own hostel/dive shop in the Caribbean or South Pacific.

Alicia is an avid world traveller and loves to be in diverse environments and learn about other people and their culture. She has had over 4 years of customer service experience and feels equipped to handle any problems and keep guests satisfied.

David Adams, New Zealand

David is currently working at a summer camp in New Zealand teaching children aged between 7 and 15 how to snorkel, obviously doing the Dive Master would be the next ideal step to take.

Ever since David did his first dive he knew that he wanted to progress as much as he could. He is really interested in working in the dive industry and wants to learn as much about the dive industry as possible.

David is constantly travel around the globe and feels that doing the Dive Master would both aid with his adventures and future employment.

Hobbies: David likes to travel, and being in or on the water. He is First Aid and Lifeguard (shallow & deep water) trained and has been teaching kayaking.

Diving experience: David is PADI Advanced Open Water diver with 14 dives

Ben Baughman, USA

After spending most of his life a thousand miles away from any large body of water, and inspired by dive trips to Croatia, Tanzania, Thailand, and Australia, Ben decided he should spend some more time on the sea, improving his diving skills and experiencing a new lifestyle.

Ben has lived in 5 different countries and travelled to over 60 more, which has increased his cultural understanding, although he still can’t figure out why anyone thinks tripe is tasty.  He is also a certified EMT.

Hobbies: Canyoning, rafting, canoeing, and swimming.

Joshua is working on his Green MBA, and in-fact he will be working on it while in Roatan, as it is a 100% online course. His past diving has been in cold NE lakes, warm water in Cayman and Little Cayman, and he will be visiting Barbados shortly before his time in Roatan. 

Hobbies: Well the picture says it all. Skydiving and most adventure sports top Joshua’s list of interests.

Andrew graduated from the Police Foundation and has most recently been working surveillance at a local casino. However his interest in diving may be calling him to become a diving professional, certainly becoming a DM is part of that process. Seeing the world and working abroad are two of his long term goals that match perfectly with becoming a diving professional. His other interests are equally adventurous and include skydiving, bungee jumping, tennis and motorcycle riding.
